The EFT Process

It is my experience that EFT is a wonderful first step to discovering emotional issues that create physical and emotional pain.  Sometimes it is just the beginning and in order to get the most out of EFT, it is best to work with an experienced EFT practitioner, or a counselor or licensed psychologist trained in EFT.  With that being said, I am unaware of any harmful side effects using EFT and it works great when using it for yourself.  Please read the disclaimer below and remember that you need to take full responsibility for yourself and the application of this wonderful healing technique.

Gary Craig, the founder of EFT (www.emofree.com), devised what he calls "The Basic Receipe," a tapping sequence that can be used in just about any situation, simply and easily.

Preparing to Tap:

  1. Select a recent memory, experience, or problem that creates a negative emotion for you.
  2. Jot down a few words or phrase as a reminder.
  3. On a scale of 0-10 (10 being the most intense feeling), what is your emotional feeling about this issue.  Write that number down.
  4. As you are tapping, tune into that emotional thought/feeling.
  5. Be specific - Focus on one event, memory, or problem only.  EFT works best the more specific you can be.

The Basic Recipe:

  • The Set Up...Repeat 3 times the following affirmation as you tap on the KC (Karate Chop Point) see chart below.

"Even though I have this (state the problem, feeling, or emotion), I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

  • Tapping...Tap on each of the pressure "tapping" points, see chart below (tap each point in order, then tap another round), as you repeat the following phrase:

"This (state the problem, feeling, or emotion)"

  • Test Your Results...Take a breath, close your eyes and think of the situation you were tapping on to see if the number of intensity you rated it before you started is still the same, less, more, or completely gone.  If there is still some intensity, then you will begin the process again, but will be changing the words, as follows:

"Even though I still have some of this (state the problem, feeling, or emotion, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."  (Do 3 rounds of this)

Tap each of the pressure tapping points repeating the following:

"This remaining (problem, feeling or emotion)

Continue the basic receipe until you test your results and they are 0.

 THE TAPPING POINTS

When you are tapping use the tips of your first two fingers (you may use 3 fingers to make sure you hit the pressure point) and lightly tap, it does not give any better results to tap hard and you may injure yourself.

KC - KARATE CHOP

(Side of the hand, like where you would do a karate chop)

EB - EYEBROW

(The edge of the eyebrow right above the bridge of the nose)

SE - SIDE OF EYE

(On the outside edge of  the eye)

UE - UNDER EYE

(In the middle just under the eye)

UN - UNDER NOSE

(Under the nose in the middle above the top lip)

CH - CHIN

(Right under the bottom lip in the middle above the chin)

CB - COLLARBONE

(Find the "u-shaped" notch in the middle below your neck, (where you would tie a tie), then go about an inch below to either the right or left.  You may use the tips of all your fingers to make sure you hit the right spot.

UA - UNDERARM

(On the side of the body, even with the nipple (for men) or in the middle of the bra strap (for women), about 4 inches below the armpit.

TH - TOP OF HEAD

(In the middle of the top of the head)
